Men's Bespoke

Suits - Shirts - Trousers - Overcoats

Commissioning a bespoke garment is a unique and rewarding experience, it is an investment in yourself and in an ever shrinking industry of skilled craftsmen and women. In a world of fast changing trends and disposable fashion, bespoke remains the ideal choice for those who believe in quality and craft and have the confidence in their own style to purchase garments that will last for years to come.

Whilst still practising traditional hand craft tailoring Alis also has a fresh eye for contemporary design, a fascination with contemporary textiles, and a reverence for more established traditional cloths. From the perfect pair of wool trousers, to the overcoat you’ve always dreamt of, we prides ourselves in making the bespoke experience as enjoyable, participatory and affordable as possible.

The Bespoke Process

Initial Meeting

The bespoke process always begins with a free consultation - this is an opportunity for you to meet Alis, discuss your bespoke garment and start to explore different shapes, fabrics and details.

Design & Consultation

This stage involves the creation of sketches and any necessary samples of specific design details. A second consultation will then take place whereupon you will review and select your preferred design(s) and fabrics. Alis will take a full set of measurements at this meeting, ready to start creating your bespoke garment(s) for your first fitting.

First Fitting

This is where Alis begins work on your bespoke garment or suit. Depending on the garment, Alis will either start working directly with the chosen fabric or make a ‘toile’ prototype from an inexpensive cloth. Your design will be basted up (sewn by hand with long, temporary stitches) and you will meet with Alis to check the style and fit and make any necessary amendments.

Second and Final Fitting

Following the first fitting your garment will be taken apart and re-stitched permanently with all the necessary amendments. At this fitting your design will be almost complete, elements such as final hem lengths will be agreed upon and set and and final fitting adjustments will be made. Your garment will then be completed, all finishing details will be added including linings and buttonholes etc.
